Yea, we'd definitly have to make a trip out of it.  I would think that minimal wind would necessitate maximum partying:)

Bummer, our closest lake we go to for you is Smith Creek just east of Reno west of Austin, Nevada about 350 miles from Dublin, we do that one probably 3rd week in June. the only drawback is when there is no wind , it's a lonmg way to have driven, but  we have a good group of nice people to party with. We have a local lake , El Mirage and it's just north of L.A. 110 miles for me  and about 400+/- for you guys, it's wet from the rai right now and we're waiting for it to dry out

That is so neat.  We drove across 80 into Utah, when we got into Utah we saw a bunch of people out with their landsailers.  That's the first time I'd ever seen anythink like it in person...Very cool.  I can imagine that it gets pretty challenging when the wind picks up.  We're in CA, so I'll have to talk to my husband, see if we can take a trip out that way.

That video is at about 45mph, just guessing. That landsailer belongs to my friend, it is a Manta Twin, and can seat two people, I have a Manta Twin also, we race in a "One Design" class, where all the landsailers are the same, Manta Twins with no modifications. They are very easy to learn to sail in light wind, but can be a handful in heavier wind, I've had mine to 57mph. We are having our Annual America's Cup of Landsailing the 3rd week of March this year, 2011, starting the 19th thru the 26th at Ivanpah Dry Lake, you guys ought to come out, it's "Camping" on a Dry Lake! the web site is   nalsa.org  (North American Land Sailing Association) Check it out for details ---Steve (sail number US373)

Thermarest Tech Blanket, Good for Hammock Camping???

The Tech Blanket from Thermarest is a great piece of gear when it comes to hammock camping. The system was meant for the ground but it works great in a hammo...
