On Sunday, August 16th, 2009, three members of the Beckwourth Outdoors (aka James P. Beckwourth Mountain Club) hiked/climbed Cataract Falls above lower Cataract Lake in Summit County, Colorado. We climbed alongside two impressive waterfalls - one 400 feet high and the other 75 feet high with some bushwhacking west of the second waterfall. The 4-1/2 mile, 6 hour hike to the top of the two waterfalls was very, very difficult as we navigated over/under boulders, fallen trees and up cliff walls. On the way to the trailhead, we encountered some Big Horn Sheep near the town of Georgetown, Colorado. Click on the speaker icon to hear the music, if disabled.
