Billy Clapp Lake is in eastern Washington approximately 45 minutes outside Moses Lake. It is high desert overlooking an expansive lake. Best time to hike the desert is in spring and early summer. July and August get extremely hot. If a person decides to venture out during the hottest time of the summer, wear snake protective leg wear. Rattle snakes abound in this area, as well as coyotes.

It really is snake country Sandra. I'm glad we went when we did because we have experienced 6 weeks of 95 and over degree temperatures. Most of the time its floated between 100 and 106. We are so ready though to move back to Oregon. We were there this weekend to pick up the kids from my parents and even though one can find beauty just about any where, it was kind of depressing to come back to a hole. The ecosystem, the geological features, and the amazing life that exists within this God-forsaken country provides interest and its own beauty. But, once you've seen three or four spots like this...well...Oregon looks pretty darn good. We're going to try and camp in the Wallawas within the next couple of weeks.

Boy, that definitely looks like snake country. Nice background music. Looks like the kids had fun!
