June 22, 2011 for Bob and July 8 for me!  These are the last days of our working life, for now.  Planning a wonderful cross country trip to Oregon to our daughter's wedding on August 14.  Well, we really aren't planning anything except to stop at Mt. Rushmore and Yellowstone, in that order? Obviously, I have made a reservation in Oregon at Cape Lookout, near the wedding site.

Not sure of anything else yet as I only mapped out Route 80 and then Route 90.  Im NOT A PLANNER and Bob leaves it up to me so we are going cross country basically without a plan, probably leaving the second week in July.  How's that for a plan!  So, I thought I'd try to share on this site, if I remember to do so.  We took the RV out Memorial Day weekend to check out the systems and decide what to take and not to take.  Never have been in it longer than a week so it will prove to be interesting.  Where the hell will I pack all my shoes!  So while I try to figure it all out input would be appreciated but not necessarily adhered to, yes, Im one of those.......

I'll be back .  LOL

That's one of the best things about owning an RV - just like you described it :)

Well, I gave in and opened some maps with lots of detail.  Then I went to my closet and thought about what I may or may not take with me but most important I went into the RV and just realized why Im so excited to do this trip.  I love my RV.  It's so freeing and peaceful and at the end of the road is my daughter and her wonderful day.  So, yes I became sidetracked in thought and lost my way so now I'm back to my daily life for now.....

Congratulations on your retirement and your daughter's impending nuptials!  I'm the polar opposite of you, I have our 2012 trip to Yellowstone already mapped out and reservations for Yellowstone and the Tetons made.  That being said, if you're going to be in the area anyway why don't you stop off at the Tetons and give Jackson Hole a visit?  I've heard mixed reviews about Jackson Hole, but I went there as a child and want to go back to see if it's still what I remember.  Also, the consensus is that the Tetons are a must see too!

I made a road trip from California to New Jersey - it took me about 55 hours on the road.  Having no plan isn't the worst of things.  Sometimes going "without time or destination" can be exciting and adventuresome.  All you need to worry about is getting to the wedding on time, regardless of the route you take or the things you stop to look at.  Best of luck!
