Today my daughter is having her birthday party. She just turned eleven and I was thrilled when she told me she wanted a camping theme. She and her friend pitched the tent, swept it out and set up chairs for everyone. They have cooked their own hot dogs, made s'mores and just played in the wooded backyard. What else could a mother who loves camping want? Many times we parents have a favorite sport, hobby or interest and are disheartened when our children don't love it as much as we do. It makes us feel that we can't use that particular avenue as a way for the family to bond. So, I couldn't be happier today. Not only did she want it to be fun for her, she is sharing it with three friends who are campers plus exposing two who have never camped in their lives. What a wonderful way to introduce your childhood friends to camping. I hope they all enjoy themselves!
