For some time now, I've wanted to go to Red Rock Canyon State Park just north of Mojave, CA. Well, it looks like I'm finally going to get the chance later this month... Lord willing and the creek don't rise, as my grandmother used to say.
It's supposed to have some beautiful red rock formations and twisting canyons, but I don't know much about it other than what I've read.
Has anyone ever been there? Any…
ContinueWow, this is a very quiet site! I just realized that I haven't posted here since early October! Yikes! We had our 9 week trip which included the northern states West to Oregon, Daughter's wedding, south on N CA coast and then east to Reno, south to Arizona, east to Branson, MO and then home. What a ride it was. The plan is to leave again in early May and head to Arizona for a month to see our new little grandson who will be here the end of April. Our little home is covered and…

So our dates for our trip to Yellowstone and the Tetons are confirmed. We have 10 days in Yellowstone and 7 days in the Tetons. I added a couple of days stay to the The Tetons because I decided we'd drive down to Jackson Hole for a day trip instead of making reservations in town. I hope that was the right decision. I'm still torn. The kids are 3 & 5, well my son will be 4 and my daughter will turn 6 on the trip. I was checking out the…

We started up the 5 freeway out of Orange County for parts north and for those that tow a trailer if you don't have a great hitch, get a Equal-i-zer it was great did not even notice a simi passing me at all on the freeway. It took about 4 and 1/2 hours to get to Three Rivers with a stop for breakfast and a fruit stand. The campground was very good. We got settled in at a nice shaded spot and set up. As the wife was tired (funny I did all the driving) she took a nap and I explored the…

I'm so saddened to hear about the 3 people who fell over 317-foot Vernal Falls in Yosemite recently. Apparently they ignored warning signs and jumped the guardrail to get into the water and take pictures just 25 feet from the edge of the waterfall. One person slipped and went toward the edge, prompting another to try to save him, who also then went over the edge. The third person tried to save the second but was also swept over the edge.
I am horrified at how these people…

I have to admit - I "borrowed" this recipe from Greg Walker on Grill-Share.com - but he borrowed it too, so I guess it's OK to pass on. If you have no way to keep ice cream, I suppose you could substitute Cool Whip - or just eat the bananas as is!
Enjoy!

Planned a family get together to help celebrate the inlaws 60th anniversary. The whole trip up from Nevada, the weather was beautiful. Blue skies and sunshine. Yaaaayyyy!!!!!
Went to bed last night(sleeping in the tent), and went to sleep listening to the sound of the raindrops hitting the top of the tent. Slept like a baby.
Now it's still drizzling off. The kids are kinda cooped up for now. Hopefully the weather will clear off and be nice this afternoon.
We did see two…

I just wanted to post a review about this hidden gem! This is really a nice place quiet, treed and lots of wildlife. There are several ponds filled with fish a sandy beach, clean restrooms and basic hook ups along with fresh water close by and a dump station on the way out. We only stayed one night but it was nice and will be one to put down to come again. Friendly host as well. This is located outside Grand Island, Nebraska.

For many years or actually off and on for years I kept a journal. Even through those dark hours and dreary daze I managed at times to scribble a few lines. But as with many I withdrew into a diary of writing in my head. Now it's time to let those moments free....

Single rucksack to grab for a quick and fun day out on the river with the dog. All fits in and on the Verden 45 rucksack. Takes around 5 mins to inflate the boat. Left one of the seats at home.

June 22, 2011 for Bob and July 8 for me! These are the last days of our working life, for now. Planning a wonderful cross country trip to Oregon to our daughter's wedding on August 14. Well, we really aren't planning anything except to stop at Mt. Rushmore and Yellowstone, in that order? Obviously, I have made a reservation in Oregon at Cape Lookout, near the wedding site.
Not sure of anything else yet as I only mapped out Route 80 and then Route 90. Im NOT A PLANNER and…

Took a little side trip a few weeks ago.
Had some friend who had went down to Topaz Lake for the weekend, taking their little R.V. We had other obligations in the morning, but cruised on down for the afternoon.
It was still just a tad bit cool, with the…

Here in Northern Nevada, we've finally got the kind of weather I dream about. Blue skies, sun shine, light winds ( not the gale force that drive the sand and dust from the fields down the street). Temps in the high 70's to low 80's.
It's almost begging us to load the camp gear and head out to anywhere.
We've decided to take advantage of the Memorial Day Week-end and head out to Wall Canyon. A kinda hard to get to place outside of Gerlach,Nevada.
Forget the R.V's, they'd…
