Oh, I agree Ellen, I have sat out several severe storms in mine and stayed dry. I still don't like sitting amongst the trees when it thunders and arcs and sparks but at least we are protected some what in the pop-up. Each time we sit through…

Mike,
Have you visited TableRock State Park yet? Do the sites have a good views or tree covered?
So far we have visited Hunting Island state park and Chester State Park. Hunting Isl is great but to get a beach loop site you have to book 11 mths in advance. Chester is small- only 25 sites, but it is only 45 mins from where we live and beautiful . I would love to hear about any of the other SC state parks you have visited.

Mike, I see you are "Monkey's Corner" (as my kids and friends used to call it). I lived there many moons ago (like about 1967-1970). We lived at the end of what was known as Mett's Street. We had some friends named Joe and Bernie Cumbee. They had a daughter named Arlene and a son named Dee. The last time I got to go there for a visit, I found Dee; he was married with a couple of children and was playing in a band. He was about the size of an NFL player. His dad, Joe used to play a banjo and guitar; he would play them at the bars often. I think Joe and Bernie both are deceased now. Do not know what happened to Arlene. They were the same ages as my daughter and son and were together constantly.
Now as far as camping goes, I have traveled all my life; lived in about 35 states and Canada. Did not really get to enjoy it though until I married my late husband, who was an Explorer Scout Leader. He is the one who really got me into camping, especially primitive. We eventually became War Between the States re-enactors.
I am not able to go primitive tent camping or do as much hiking as I used to do, due to some injuries in an accident. Now I have an ancient shell camper on the back of my pick-up. Have not been able to do much camping for the past 3 years; have been in college. Hope to get started camping this fall if I can get some family matters settled.
I also know of some nice "flush toilet places to go and enjoy". Not only in SC, but also in NC and GA.
Hope we can keep in touch with each other.
