Hi Russell, The picture of our dog laying on the beach is at Marina State Beach on the Monterey Bay, and the one of the kids and my husband walking is the trail to Marina State Beach. The dolphins in the water is Seacliff State Beach which is also…
Hey Roxane,
How have you been? Did you get to do any camping before the weather got cold?
Got in a little in Florida and spent some time with my kids traveling down the Blueridge Parkway over the summer. I moved to Tenn. and starting to learn the…
Hey Sandra,
It's in North Central Tenn. Close to FT. Campbell on the Kentucky state line.
I heard of a place called Land Between the Lakes. Drove through there and looks like a nice place. I'm living here in Tenn. now and getting to know…
Sandra,
You can drive close to this Island, however you have to walk the last 1/2 mile or so. I don't think you can camp out on the Island because it's a protected area. You can camp close by and you can also camp out on near by islands,…
Can you drive to this island? Is it in the Keys? Never really thought about camping on an island (except for big ones like St. John). I bet this would be fun.
Thanks Sandra,
This is one of my favorite places to visit. I plan on watching the sun rise in St. Augustine, on Vilano Beach( on the Atlantic Ocean) then drive to this spot(which in in the Gulf of Mexico) and watch it set......in…
Hi Russell, The picture of our dog laying on the beach is at Marina State Beach on the Monterey Bay, and the one of the kids and my husband walking is the trail to Marina State Beach. The dolphins in the water is Seacliff State Beach which is also on Monterey Bay. (They're favorite local camping spots for us.) The boats, "Blessing of the fleet," is in Bodega Bay. We've only been to Bodega Bay once, but we go to Marina and Seacliff SB's annually. Thanks for asking! ~Laurene
Didn't go camping in July but planning on it this month for sure. Glad we don't have the humidity that you do :) But the beach is always a good retreat. Hope you are having a great summer.

I took about 800 photos so I'll try to change them out every now and then...I go back in a few weeks for some "me" time. I'll take some camping and hiking photos on that trip.
Hi Russell, thanks for defending me, lol. I shall do my best to be silent...didn't mean to cause such a stir...I think I shall find out where he is camping and have 3 or 4 spotlights, myself, 200 of my closet friends and a Mariachi band Airlifted to his campsite for a small overnight party, lol. Honestly, I'm truly sorry for the trouble. I also have 2 girls, 13 and 14. It's just the 3 of us camping so I try to keep a little light around us and stick to camp grounds for safety. Not sure NC can compare with Texas, everything's bigger and better in Texas!!
Sorry you won't be able to make it for the show. We are going on our boat with another couple, but decided against camping. It is going to be tough just getting parking at any of the launch areas. We are hoping for a better forcast because as of now there is a 40% chance of rain. Yesterday it was 20% and who knows what it will be by Staurday.
We trailered the boat on the 4th to a picnic on Magnolia River and it was great fun doing fresh water boating for a change. I'd like to find a nice campground somewhere close on a river to go camping for a weekend. We have a pontoon and have no head on the boat so I'd like to have clean bathroom facilities where we camp. It will be next month most likely before we will have time since the rest of this month is booked with family commitments and other things.
It would be nice to hook up with you all sometime and would look forward to meeting you.
Take care and let me know if and when you'll be in the area.
So glad you joined the Equestrian Group. When I was 13 I was horse crazy, and never outgrew it!! Hope your daughter gets to experiance many happy trail rides in her future. I will post more pics as soon as we get some, I love sharing my passion. I have enjoyed your pics also, quite differant than what we have here in NM, with the Rays, Sharks and Big Black Snakes =(
Bear Creek is located in Marion County in northwest Alabama. The picture was taken while we were canoeing the creek that runs through Bear Creek. I will try and post some photos of the campground sometime today. The creek is not even five minutes from the campground and many of the sites at the campground are right on the lake. Absolutely beautiful!
Make sure if you go rafting you are on a river that has at least a few class 4's and/or 5's. Class 2's and 3's just don't do the trick :) I have a few pics of rafting but I have to scan them......someday. Haha
Thanks Lyz,
I'm planning a white water trip at Chattooga river about june when my daughters come down to visit my son and I. After they go back to Ohio we are wanting to take a road trip out to Texas and see some of the outdoors.
I have heard lots of good things about Texas and wanted to see for my self. We like your pictures. I really like this web site too, It helps to get information from people who have been there and share their photo's on line. How long has it been up and running? Any information you can share will be very helpful. When we camp we like to do a lot of different things. Hiking, kayaking, fishing and some biking sometime soon.
Thanks again and if you guys are ever out in Florida or want information about Florida just give me a shout.
Russell
The Tech Blanket from Thermarest is a great piece of gear when it comes to hammock camping. The system was meant for the ground but it works great in a hammo...
