Gonna do a solo-backpacking trip in April. Not quite sure where I'm gonna go yet - it will depend on how much snow is still around. :)

Seven Devils

Getting ready for a great camping trip to Seven Devils in North-Central Idaho. We're going to be backpacking and spending 7 nights and 8 days in the back country. There are dozens of lakes up there with lots of fish to be caught. I plan on summiting He Devil - which is 9393 feet tall. Should be lots of fun. I promise I will post some pictures on here when I get back. :)
Overnight camping

I have finally resorted to doing overnight camping excursions to different locations around where I live. I have not had the opportunity nor time to get out yet and do a full week, or couple of day camping trip. I went out the other night to a favorite spot of mine and really enjoyed the time alone. It was so great to get out into the mountains and be able to breath that clean air! I plan on going out again this next week to do the same thing - possibly at a different spot. Well, nice to see there is a place on-line dedicated to camping. I'm sure there are many, but this is the first one I have found.
Growing up I didn't do a whole lot of camping. I remember as a kid I begged my dad to take me camping. Since he is not an avid camper he reluctantly took me to a local resevior/camping area and we stayed the night - or, part of the night. It was so cold that he woke me up, made me hold the flashlight while he took the tent down, and we drove home. That was… Continue

- Hey dude my wife make a killer huckleberry sauce, preserves, and syrup that we use to use in our restaurant in McCall, maybe we can swap. as for park camping I'm with you on that, but if you have never been in the McCall area it's a great place to start. If your summer is already planned out even better. The park usually empties the weekend after labor day.

- If you drive down towards McCall and pull of almost anywhere you can't go wrong. Some suggestions, first go in to McCall and stay at the Ponderosa State Park for a week end, do some of the park trails and get out onto the point. Ask if you don't see anyone going there. This will give you a vantage point to plan some real backpacking or car camping trips depending on your time frame. second I would make a left on Wagon Wheel rd and follow it around till you get to Burgdorf you cant go wrong there either.
There is hot spring and a bunch of lakes in the area, some great fishing, and killer views. Hey how are the huckleberries up toward you. Have you found any?

- Hey Paul, I haven't been up to the seven devils I am familiar with the Magruder Corridor. You will have a great trip. The scenery is fantastic. Our goal this year is to do more in Hells canyon we just haven't figured out what just yet. As far as Council, there are a lot places to camp and fish, as far as established and mapped trails there aren't to many, but I always find someplace to hike to. The Weiser River trail spreads for 55 miles down to Payette from the New Meadows area. Do you ever get into the McCall area?
