Has anyone been to the hot springs in Kern Canyon, CA?  I'm not sure how to get there or where they are.

Back on my stomping ground

I have been away from my home for the last two years chasing the money train only to find out that this country is spining clockwise down the drain. I love my country, but am disgusted with the way the paid officials are operating it as there own ATM. So I am back where I can get away from the daily grind and keep my sanity. Stashed in between the Payette National forest and the Hells Canyon Recreational Area, with a view to the south of the East Fork of the Weiser River and Council Mountain peak. Which lends itself to some awesome sunrises and fantastic sunsets divided by billions of stars and beautiful days. My wife and I like to hot spring, one of my favorite books is "Hot Springs of the Northwest", hike, flyfish, photography, car camp with the kids and grandkid, backpack, snowshoe, and kite. We take our MOUNTAIN DACHSHUNDS, who much like goats lead the way. If you find yourself in Idaho give us a jingle.

Hi Morgan! I actually live in Boise, ID now. In fact, my husband and I just went to Bonneville campgrounds last weekend where they have some awesome hot springs! I'll see about posting some pics. :)

What kind of restaurant do you guys own? That must be fun! Not sure yet on if I'll be doing any picking this year...but I hope so. So that would be awesome to turn it into syrup, or jam. :)

Yeah, that sounds awesome! I've gotta plan it to where I'm headed down there on one of my longer weekends.

Usually the huckleberries are best mid to late September. There is a GREAT area that I know of where we have picked for hours and filled up a lot of containers. I'm hoping to do that again this year. Unfortunately you have to beat everyone else to the spot - as they too know the secret location. :)

I've found that camp grounds are alright for an over-nighter....but I hate camping around a ton of other people and have to put up with the noise. I prefer to find a secluded spot. However I am definetly going to check out those spots you mentioned. :)

I want to try and get down to McCall a lot more. I've never camped in that area, but every time I drive through I make a mental note that I need to find a spot to camp. The area around there is beautiful!

Hey, I just went through Council last week! :) How's the camping down there? You ever make it up to Seven Devils? Living in Grangeville I have the Seven Devils in my back yard, as well as the Gospel Hump Wilderness, Selway and Frank Church area. I'm going to try and drive/camp the Magruder Corridor next week. Ever heard of it?

Hi Morgan!
Welcome to CampersIndex! I’m glad to see you found our groups. Keep checking back for other groups you’d be interested in, too. We have groups for cooking, fishing, tent camping, RV's, and a lot more. Please let me know if there are any questions I can answer for you. :)

Thermarest Tech Blanket, Good for Hammock Camping???

The Tech Blanket from Thermarest is a great piece of gear when it comes to hammock camping. The system was meant for the ground but it works great in a hammo...
