Cottonwood is on lake Hughes Rd and you just need an adventure pass to camp there and then down the road is fish creek which is a nice hike that you can relax in pools of water.

We are going to Lake casitas 2x's this year due to lack of reservations this year. It is a nice lake if you RV F sites are the best 2nd choice is B or M campgrounds M is woody and dirt but nice area lots of trees, No trailers or Rv's in M.…

Try Joshua Tree National park has openings Free but first come first serve. But it gets Hot last week of may. Lake Casitas in Ojai, Lake Cachuma in Santa Ynez,

What about Pyramid Lake area or Castaic area. I dont know about free but I would think you can find something in the Pyramid Lake area. Unfortunately there was only one time I went camping up north of Castaic but I wasnt driving so now cant remember…
