I hear the deep south is very beautiful. isn't there a mountain range somewhat near you? My geography is weak. You're friend in Alaska is right, that ferry ride is amazing and you really can camp on the upper deck. Summer camping there is…
Someone once told me that the reason he liked to camp in the fall and winter was that everything that can bite or annoy you is either in hibernation or dead.
This would've been the summer to camp in Alaska. It's been beautiful and hot in the southeast. Hot for us is in the 80's. If you do plan on coming here to camp, bring water proof everything and I suggest taking the ferry (Alaska…
I go camping at the park in Moundville, Alabama a lot. It is a real peaceful setting. Nice and quiet. The campground is never crowded. It has a nice shower/bath house. There are also electrical and primitive campsites. I like it there because I can feel the Native Americans around me when I go there. There are a lot of Mounds at the park. Really nice place. Anyone ever been there?

You're friend in Alaska is right, that ferry ride is amazing and you really can camp on the upper deck. Summer camping there is a bit wierd because the sun never really sets. I finally just wore a hat that was big enough to go over my eyes. Camping in Alaska is really a trip of a lifetime. Colorado is second only to Alaska. :-)
This would've been the summer to camp in Alaska. It's been beautiful and hot in the southeast. Hot for us is in the 80's. If you do plan on coming here to camp, bring water proof everything and I suggest taking the ferry (Alaska Marine Hwy) through the panhandle (southeast) and checking out all the town's from Ketchikan to Haines. It's a great trip! You can even set up your tent on the ferry deck.
The Tech Blanket from Thermarest is a great piece of gear when it comes to hammock camping. The system was meant for the ground but it works great in a hammo...
