"It's down from the camping and visitor's area on the left and back about 2 miles. Has a trail around it and plenty of fishing docks. "

"For a laid back camping trip, Hamburg State Park is fantastic. It is located towards Augusta; actually in the middle of nowhere(the nearest town is 30 minutes away so bring everything you'll need!). It is one of the nicest, cleanest parks in…"

"We are headed to Vogel tomorrow for the weekend. That's a real pretty one! We did not like Moccasin Creek. Nicely kept but way too crowded and way way too snooty for us and our little popup! We will be staying at Unicoi outside Helen for a week…"

Hello everyone!

My husband, David (and Teddie and Lindsay, our two doggies)and I are attempting to camp all of the state parks here in GA. I truly believe we have the most awesome parks in the nation and am very worried about their continue success in the future due to this awful recession(or depression :( ). I hope we make it before some or all are closed due to lack of funding! We are traveling in a pop-up purchased by giving up cigarettes two summers ago. It has helped to keep us smoke -free and provided us with some wonderful fun memories. We even purchased bikes last year!

Hey Debra...thanks for your replies! We have tried Indian Springs, Ft. Yargo, and will be going to H.L.Creek next weekend. We liked being on the lake at Ft Yargo...looks like we were on the site next to yours! Looks so different in the winter. So far, we have been disapointed with the "beaches" at the parks...I remember the one at H.L.C. was nice years ago...we'll see! Our Grandson (age3!) went with us last weekend (they live in Covington)...his first time camping and he had a ball! It brought back memories of camping with the kids years ago. We only took one doggie with us last time, but will take both next week. We have a mini golden/cocker mix and a cockapoo...both great camping dogs! Let me know if you have any more advice about the parks, or camping with the puppies or anything! Thanks!
