Omigosh, August?  Wow, you're braver than I am.  But yes, it is beautiful.  If you have a chance to go there in the spring or fall sometime, do.  You and your kids will enjoy it a lot more.

We went in August, bought the over-priced sled in the gift shop and went down a total of 4 times before my kids felt like they were going to die of heat exhaustion. Probably not an August activity, but it is beautiful.

I used to play here when I was a kid... roll down the sand dunes... great place to go.
