Thanks Jeff. Thousand Island Lake is in the Ansel Adams Wildnerness which is actually just east of Yosemite and west of Mammoth Lakes. You can backpack from Yosemite (Tuolumne Meadows), but the more common & shorter route to this beautiful area is from Devil's Postpile trailheads near Mammoth. Beautiful trails through this country!
