It was a lot safer than it may look. At Brooks Falls in Katmai National Park Alaska there is a viewing platform to separate the bears and the people. I think it is for the bear’s protection! Usually it is very crowded. If you spend enough time at it the crowds thin out and sometimes good pictures happen.
