There's a great trail across the road from the Canyon Lake Marina called Boulder Canyon Trail. Actually, you park in the Marina's parking lot and then walk across the road to the TH. This is always a favorite in the winter for the Phoenix, AZ locals. The summer temps make this a deadly experience but the winter and especially early spring make this a beautiful hike.

This is Canyon Lake. About 1/2 hour from Apache Junction. There are 3 lakes but this is my fav.
It is big enough to take about 2 hrs to go from one end to the other. Loads of fishing, a marina, a boat dock and resturant. The walls of the canyon are amazing, and there are caves and cool areas.
