I grew up in Alaska years ago. Beautiful state and wish I could go back and live there again. Once it's in your blood it never leaves! I remember those dancing aurora borealis lights. Beautiful pictures and I always am appreciative when people share their photos from the Land of the Midnight Sun. Makes me homesick, but always glad to see them. Do you live in Alaska or just visit often? I lived up near the Matanuska Glacier, Palmer, Anchorage and then ended up in many Eskimo and Indian villages over a 14 year period of time. All the main roads are familiar and frequented central Alaska and Southeast for family vacations. You definitely chose a beautiful spot to camp in this picture.

That is some beautiful country. used to take float trips in central AK and always was in awe of the vast beauty.
What time of year do you camp here and see the lights?
See you have the same issue with the Outback Lodge that i do. Really needs a rain fly!
I too, run a rope from top to front and use a light tarp. Other than that issue, is a great tent!

It really is a beautiful spot, accessible by car, but far enough off the Dalton road to be away from the sight and sound of traffic. The first time I was here spent 10 nights, saw auroras 8 nights, a complete lunar eclipse and shooting stars. A sky watcher's dream. What I remember most about this spot was after several days, the river started talking to me, and after several more days I was having conversations with the river. :)
