Permalink Reply by Anthony Composto on April 19, 2010 at 5:52pm Anthony -- yours is one of the best lists I've seen - probably because you've obviously thought it out and purchased what you need already. Did I miss a water purification system? What about some duct tape? Can't think of a whole lot more... Is this for a 3-day or 1-day sojourn and for how many people?
Permalink Reply by Anthony Composto on April 20, 2010 at 12:46pm Anyone ever read "Six Ways In and Twelve Ways Out"? http://www.usrsog.org/manu.htm -- or heard of this organization -- http://www.usrsog.org/about.htm? They have an interesting page on various kits, too, that I thought interesting although a bit incomplete (http://www.usrsog.org/equip.htm). Any thoughts?

Permalink Reply by Sandra on October 5, 2010 at 7:22pm My survival gear goes from "pocket to Pantry". Each level is progressively more substantial with more variety. My pocket kit will get me through two or three days while my pantry will provide for more than a year. I have three back packs prepared and ready to go depending on the scenario along with the prepositioned gear in my three vehicles.
Permalink Reply by Sandra on June 22, 2011 at 9:27pm I don't think a lot of people think about having photos of family, ID documents (birth certificate copy, drivers' license copy), and other essential "paper" items & documents in their BOB. One thing you didn't mention (but I'm sure you have Russ) is a good radio. I have one that runs on batteries, a hand crank, and solar power if needed. It has AM/FM, weather bands, and CB wave lengths.
AM is probably the most important - plus the weather radio. I have a separate weather radio that works a bit better than the one on my "survival" radio & always take it with me camping. I'm usually the only one in any campground with one, so it does attract curious weather-reports seekers.
I have so much stuff after a couple of years of slowly gathering BOB items - but much, much more to go - a firearm, bow, and/or slingshot being just a few on my list.
I have to get re-organized though. I have one main BOB but need a smaller BOB that stays in my vehicle at all times! Plus maybe something even smaller for my wallet, keychain, or purse. It's so easy to put it off. Must stop that!
