Field Spring State Park
Our family just returned from a short weekend of camping at Field Spring State Park, just south of Clarkston, Wa. We stayed in the teepee's wich was quite the novelty for the kids, but one night it rained and we had a bit of a leakage issue. Overall, the campsite itself was lush, spacious, and had clean facilities. We were actually the only ones around the loop we camped in and had the place to ourselves. Good hiking trails and beautiful scenery. One trail leads you to overlook Hells Canyon, the deepest canyon in North America (yes, deeper than the Grand) I was shocked to hear that they are on the list of possible closures next year. Would be a shame.

We camped at Field Spring over Easter a couple years ago. There was no snow within 25 miles of the campground, but about 8 inches on the ground right there. It snowed another 14 inches on us that weekend. Very beautiful, but truly a bizarre microclimate. We saw tons of wild turkeys near the campground. Definitely a place we'll go back to.

My husband and I are planning a weekend at Field Springs in a couple of weeks. It's been several years since we last camped there; I appreciate hearing that it's still in good shape. We have a "new-to-us" Chalet trailer (one of those small A frame types that fold down to tow, and are looking forward to using it. Thanks for sharing Allie.

I've never stayed at Field Springs State park, however hearing rumors about campground closures really makes me sad. As a group - Washington State Campers, we should all do our part to try and ensure that our State doesn't close campgrounds.
