So where do you all camp? The two that we go to the most are Camano Island State Park and the Tumwater campground outside of Leavenworth. We've been many other places, but those 2 we usually hit at least once a year.

Fort Worden is our all time favorite but we also love the Cowlitz falls PUD "Bud Allen" Park near Randle Wa. It is great, power and water right next tot he river with great fishing, playgrounds and ball fields. Hiking and boating opportunities plus the biggest swap meet ever on Labor Day.
Our family does not do resort camping and prefer the national parks or the state parks that tend to be out of the path of traffic. We've camped most of our lives and find that a lot of places in Washington do not take reservations. Many are first come first serve. Lake Roosevelt campgrounds, except for SunLakes do not take reservations. SunLakes does have a few first come first serve spots. Lake Wenatchee is also both reservable and first come first serve. We really like the northern part of Washington near the border of Canada. This would include Kettle Falls along Lake Roosevelt and now the Okanogan National Forest and surrounding areas. It's quiet, peaceful, lots of hiking, away from people, close to many lakes, creeks, and rivers. Lake Chelan area also has wonderful camping, hiking, and backpacking areas if you like roughing it. The North Cascades offers a lot, especially at the higher elevations. For ruggedness and breath taking beauty, you can't beat the Glacier Peak Wilderness, but then again, you have to get up into the higher elevations, which means more rugged camping. One can take the ferry out on Lake Chelan and go into the mountain town of Stehekin, only access by boat or plane, and camp, stay in cabins, or begin backpack trips. They offer horseback rides and pack trips, kayaking, biking, shops, and a beautiful place at the base of what could be considered the Alaska of Washington.
One thing Washington is lacking is Theme parks for the Kids, and very nice resorts. You would think that Seattle would have the best RV Resorts. Lake Pleasant is about the best we have been able to find close to seattle and they are mediocre at best, esp for the high price. I visit rvparkreviews.com to find parks. Easy to navigate, free, has real people reviews, and suggest towns close by, with phone numbers, maps, and web links to the rv park.

Fort Worden state park is Awesome, full hookups, no frills, The lower section has a wonderfull view of the water, short walk to the beach, and lighthouse. It's where Officer and Gentelman was filmed. Old bunkers to explore for the kids. Stayed at a neat little park by Raineer to that had a little confusing golf course too, cant remember the name but was good for killin some time. Sequiam KOA was good for he kids also. Depends on what your looking for? I wish Gold Bar Nature Trails had some public spots. We had memberships there twice, Very nice park.
Just tried out Larabee State Park up by Bellingham this month. Had a great time!! Very pretty campgroud with beach access. Small hike down to beach. Campsites appeared to be larger then other state parks. Boat launch is just a couple streets down. Lots of people were crabbing and having crabfests in their campsites. We'll be doing this park again deffinitely.
