I just started planning a trip to Yellowstone and Grand Teton NP's. We're leaving from the SF Bay Area and I'm trying to map a route and I don't want to drive all that way without doing any sightseeing on the way (We're not necessarily taking a direct route. The northwest is up for grabs.) For anyone who has traveled in the northwest...any recommendations on where to stop or what to see? Thank you!

After plan "A" did not work out for our eight day family vacation, we ended up back at Lake Wenatchee. Go to the link above to view and read about our trip. Each day required a separate journal entry and taking over 20 hours of video footage and over 250 photos required significant editing to be interesting but not boring. The files are too large to place here, so please visit my blog site to see some beautiful country in Washington. Check back frequently for journal updates as each day will be entered individually. Enjoy visiting.

Off to enjoy Lake Wenatchee area up above Leavenworth. Can't wait to explore this beautiful spot in Washington and receive some good family bonding. Hiking, swimming, games, fresh mountain air, cooking over an open fire, relaxing to the breeze in the trees, and the best part, three days with my family away from the business of life.

It's been almost a year since I've been on this site due to extremely busy schedules and trying to complete my own schooling. Our summer finally began in the Okanogan National Forest, camping with our family and enjoying the experience of two foster children on their first ever campout and hike. We've become licensed foster parents and provide respite care for other parents who need a break. What a treat for us to join in with these children into their enthusiasm for new experiences. Now that my summer has begun, I am looking to see if there are enough women out there who might enjoy several hikes on the eastern side of Washington state. Many beautiful areas wait to be explored and would love to get several women together who might enjoy hiking a few times together this summer, possibly on a regular basis each year. My time will become limited again in the fall due to one more year of education left, but would enjoy an occassional trip into the mountains during the fall, winter, and spring months. If anyone is interested and/or has suggestions on hikes in eastern Washington area, I would love to correspond and interact. I do have books on the North Cascades, Glacier Peak Region, and Desert hikes of eastern Washington. I'd like women who can hike at levels of easy to most difficult. I'm not in the best of shape due to sitting behind a desk most of the winter, but I still can make it to the top in a reasonable amount of time! lol. I don't mind beginners because everyone needs to start somewhere, but I really am looking for women who can do more difficult trips; a fifteen minute mile on easy to moderate hikes, and maybe a 30 minute mile on extremely difficult climbs. Hope to hear from some of you and maybe get in a couple of hikes over the next couple of months before the school year begins.

We live in Ocean Shores and do occaisonally go to Pacific Beach, just to get away for the weekend. We are however looking for some campgrounds in our state that have things for the kids to do. Not enough theme parks, or Children oriented parks around for winter camping. I have found the KOA nice, they have an indoor pool. We do not have a toad set up yet. Trying to find the cheapest deal on getting our 02 liberty set up. Oh, and Howdy all.

Stayed in Grayland Beach SP just after Labor Day weekend for our Annual Seafood Fest. We ate steamer clams, kumamoto oysters, prawns, fresh tuna, and of course, dungeness crab. It doesn't get any better than that. I love going into Westport and down to the docks to get seafood right off the boats and then out to Brady's for oysters. I posted pictures of the Seafood Fest, check them out, but beware, you might get hungry!

We have stayed at several campgrounds around the state. We have gone from Ocean Shores to Spokane. We enjoy the state parks and the ability to reserve online. We also have a camping binder for the campgorounds we have been to and our favorite sites. It is a handy tool. We also add things to the pages for little reminders. Extra cords or hoses, quarters for showers things like that. Happy Camping Y'all.

Just got back from Grayland Beach State Park, stayed in site #74. The park is awesome, been there several times now, all restrooms/showers and yurts have been updated. Dogs love the beach, and it is never too packed!

Thermarest Tech Blanket, Good for Hammock Camping???

The Tech Blanket from Thermarest is a great piece of gear when it comes to hammock camping. The system was meant for the ground but it works great in a hammo...
