I just started planning a trip to Yellowstone and Grand Teton NP's. We're leaving from the SF Bay Area and I'm trying to map a route and I don't want to drive all that way without doing any sightseeing on the way (We're not necessarily taking a direct route. The northwest is up for grabs.) For anyone who has traveled in the northwest...any recommendations on where to stop or what to see? Thank you!

I've been going camping in Utah my entire life, mainly around the FishLake National Forest area, Monroe Mountain, The Kimberlies, and Boulder Mountain. I highly recommend it, they have state park camping sites but going off on your own and just pitching a tent in the forest is the best! Beautiful beautiful wilderness, lots of wildlife, world-record hunting.
We spent two weeks in Utah a couple of years ago. Loved it. Slept on our cots under the stars a few nights. Awesome. Can't do that in Minnesota due to the mosquitoes and the dew. The National Parks were nice but the ones off in the rough were the best. Hope to get back there this next June. We can't wait!!
The Tech Blanket from Thermarest is a great piece of gear when it comes to hammock camping. The system was meant for the ground but it works great in a hammo...
