I just got back from a wonderful week at Texas State Park Inks Lake. This is a hidden treasure and paradise. My family and friends fell in love with this place and we are now looking forward for another trip. We visited the Longhorns caverns only 7 minutes from the park, and the rest of the week, in the park since it has so many activities. Jet ski, canoe, diving to the waterhole (yes I did that 3 times!, so did my kids), picnics by the swim area, bike riding, hiking and geocaching, you name it and we did it. I recommend this park to everyone.

Rita, I went to Village Creek State Park last week. It's a tiny state park (near Beaumont) and since I don't have an RV, don't know about the quality of places for them but there are sites for RVs. Even though it appears to be in the city/neighborhood, it's really quiet (and there weren't many people there.) The creek is mostly for canoers (has a strong undercurrent so not great for swimming) but overall, a decent place.

Spent the weekend at Cleburne SP. I strongly recommend NOT STAYING AT  the first cap site that provides electrical and water and go to either of the next two (furthest preferably, even if you do not need sewer.  Worth the money. Much nicer and more space.  Look it up on line and it will be easy to find.  good points, close to DFW metroplex.  State gave it money to upgrade, which is happening.  But it gets crowded and not all first time campers are respectful of who follows, or for that matter who is sharing that space.  go to the furthest campsites even if you do not need the amenities.  You will be glad you did.  Nice trails, lots of local critters.  Very nice lake for fishing and playing in the water.  Lots of stars out

Anyone visited Fort Parker outside of Waco? Looking at spending a week there during spring break, just wanted to know if there is enough to keep one occupied for a week.

Thermarest Tech Blanket, Good for Hammock Camping???

The Tech Blanket from Thermarest is a great piece of gear when it comes to hammock camping. The system was meant for the ground but it works great in a hammo...
