I love my Kelty Trail Dome, but may have to buy new stuff sacks.  Even the poles must be arranged just so to slide into the pole sleve and forget putting the rainfly, pole and stake bags in the main bag with the tent.

Does anyone else have this problem or a better solution?

I have the kelty gunnison 2, i haven't had any problems with mine, however i did add a strap i use once i have the tent rolled up,it helps to keep it rolled when putting the tent in the bag, my poles, stakes and rainfly, all get rolled up in the tent. Hope this helps!

Thanks Larry! I'll try that extra strap.

Most tents are a pain to get back in the bag they came in. I have use a big bag for my tent and poles, and a small one that carries my hammer, stakes, rope, duck tape, and flash light.

Thanks Roger!  Glad to know I am not the only one with this dilemma.  A friend of my gave me a large laundry bag with a mesh top and a smaller bag just like you describe.  The only remaining problem still is the poles, which I think could use individual velcro tab straps to keep from tangling. They fit just fine length wise in the original Kelty Trail Dome 6 bag with the new "accessories" bag.  I'm thinking an old backpack bag with zippered compartments might keep the lot together better for walk in type car camping sites. Something to garage sail for next weekend!

I always buy a stuff sack for any new tent....and the a smaller one for the poles. If you camp regularly it is easier... and when you repack it different there is less chance in ruining the seams from repeated folding on the same lines. Sometimes there is moisture and try as we may to get the tent dry... the nylon is still damp..so a loose packing can aid in the drying out process once it's bagged. Simply said, it is so much easier if it is put into a stuff sack. then figuring out how to refold it into it's original bag.
Break down and buy stuff sacks! lOL I love watching my hubby try to stuff tents back into original bags!
Had this problem with every new tent I have purchased! One word - impossible!
