What a deal you got on that tent through Amazon! $110 off! At 10x15x7 with two rooms it's nice and big, too.
Btw, have you seen this set up for an A/C for a tent (of all things)? It's at http://www.acboot.com/.
Once I covered my tent with a plastic painter's dropcloth. I thought it was a good idea because it was clear and I could see through it. Wrong. It collected moisture on the inside (underneath side) of it - which then leaked onto my tent. I was with a beginning camper who was absolutely miserable under that non-breathable plastic. Way too stuffy and hot. Lesson learned.
@Sandra
Yes you do have access, like wise, mine is just to one side of the door. This particular tent I bought at Costco. It's made by Wenger.
@Eric - do you have access to your shoes once inside the tent if they're in that pass through hole? Otherwise, how would you get up in the middle of the tent to TCOB and keep your feet clean?
Oh, cool idea Eric!
@Sandy - if you don't cover your tent with a tarp, in a downpour your tent is likely to get wet on the inside. In spite of rain flies, sometimes tents do take on water in hard rains. I can't count the number of people I've seen have to leave their campground because they, their tent, their kids, and all their clothes were soaked through. Very unhappy campers.
For a time I lived in a campground and went to work every morning. This was on the East Coast, and it rained pretty hard at times. I had to be sure that when I returned, everything would be nice and dry inside the tent. I had to get a good, dry night's sleep every night.
I wrote an article about what I learned about staying dry regardless of the weather during those months. You can read it here:
Sandra,
I have a tent similar to Peggy's. On mine, the little pass through door, is for shoes. You can keep them animal and weather free, without bringing dirt inside your tent.
