I'm what some would call an expert camper - but I continue to learn on this site, too... one reason I keep coming back. Look at some of the videos. They're helpful, too.

That's great to hear, Eric.  My husband loves to fish.

Sandy, I love this site too.  There's great information and I love the photos!

I am really diggin this site.  I am learning about tents, cooking ideas, places to go that I wouldn't necessarily get from a general search on the net.  Hearing stories, ideas, & tips from first hand experience can't be beat.  I may not be able to afford to leave MO this year, but still lots to look forward to!

@ Laurene-- I like MacKerricher State Park

If you are into fishing, there is fresh and salt water, Tide pooling and poke polling. Most spaces are semi private, (lots of bushes surrounding spots)

Looks like the State Parks in California are doomed... at least some of them, including one of my favorites.  I wonder what they are going to do with the land - just turn it back to nature?  And I wonder if we can still camp there, just on our own?  Anyone know?

Just made my 2nd reservation for California State Parks this year.  This one is for MacKerricher State Park.  I've never been to this park, but it comes highly recommended.

If you're looking for somewhere to go camping, please consider one of our California State Parks.  If we support our parks, maybe they won't shut them down or worse, eliminate them.

Campsite booking for August 2011 will open tomorrow at 8am! If you ..., 50 cents for each new ReserveAmerica account will come back to CSPF. This new option is made possible by a wonderful partnership with The Active Network.

In our new Travel Center, you can also:

  • Find hikes in different state parks
  • See membership discounts
  • Book your travel through the Travelocity Partner Network. Rent a car, book a flight and make hotel reservations so getting to your favorite state park is now easier than ever!

In order to make your reservation, first go to calparks.org/Camping... Don’t forget that if you are a CSPF member you can also get up to 10% off your camping reservation! But remember, you have to start from the Calparks website.

Just an FYI, California State Park sites for August will become available tomorrow morning at 8am.  Last chance to get State Park reservations before summer ends and school starts.  Happy camping!

Thanks, Sandra!  I like your proposal.  I think it's a good idea.
