I have not been there since about June of 2008; went with my 16 year old grandson. We were not able to stay because a young 12 year old boy kept shadowing my grandson. I asked the young boy to let us have some privacy, no luck. He kept trying to get attention and bragging about being a gang member and doing drugs.
I hope to be able to go back there this summer, especially want to go during blueberry season.
That is the best place for blueberries. I used to have a little terrier mutt who would eat them right off the bush until she would get sick. Finally had to start tying her to the car. The place is so peaceful, but if you do wish to talk to another body, there is usually one around. I enjoy just walking the trails and enjoying the view from the bald or watch the birds from the cliff.
Has anyone else ever enjoyed Shining Rock Wilderness?
