My husband and I just purchased a 32 ft Max-Lite trailer. This is a new experience for us and we are very excited. Our two children are the perfect age (7 and 8) and we plan to make lots of fun memories! As newbies we have lots to learn. Anybody out there have words of wisdom or suggestions to share?

You will be overloaded w/ suggestions. You should learn your septic system. When you dump do the black 1st & then the grey. The grey will wash the hose. It won't clean it completely but will wash it enough till you get to where you can wash it good. Some say keep your septic closed while camping & dump when you are full or when you leave. This way nothing dries in the hose. Happy Camping.
I'm glad that will be my husbands responsibility! :-)
Thanks

In tune with the last response... Put a little bit of water softner in your black tank and a gallon of water before you use your camper. You can do this by putting it down the toilet. Each time you dump, repeat this process so that it "coats" the tank and the tp won't stick to it as badly.

Also purchase a crock pot for your camper. There are many recipes for crock pots that you can put on in the morning time, and supper will be ready after a day of playing.

Tie something around the handle that lets your antanae up and down. It will remind you when you are leaving to put the antanae down.

At home, save the cardboard from your t.p. and paper towel rolls. When doing your laundry, put the lint from the dryer in the tubes and then put in a plastic bag. You will have fire starter logs!
Love the idea of the use for T.P. rolls. I use them to store extention cords & to wrap small Christmas presents in for my son.

Be careful with the "lite" trailers - they tend to ride low to the ground, so you want to be careful where you pulled it. Our first trailer was a "lite".

Also, do your research when going into a state campground to make sure that it can accommadate your size trailer - we have found out the hard way that although they may say they are long enough, when you get there that you see that the roads are too narrow to back in or that there are trees and/or rocks that don't allow you to back in the full length. RV parks don't have that problem, it's just usually campgrounds.

Have LOTS of fun ... we've been camping since our kids were infants and they LOVE it :)
Make sure that both you and your husband do a walk around whenever you leave. The worst horror stories are things like forgetting to put the steps in, not securing the awning, leaving windows open, the antennae up, etc. Make a checklist of all things that need to be secured ;)

Welcome to the RV world! My wife and I love our rv, my word of advise, measure the height of your trailer. Our trailer is a toy hauler so it is quite tall. Find your highest point, probaly the A/C unit and add about 12" to be on the safe side. Happy camping.
Hello
I am going to live in a 38ft Bounder Motor home.
I do not like to use propane for indoor cooking.
Found great appliance to replace stove with.
I ordered one and it is great.
Go to www.compactappliance.com and
search ocbr43w Great for cooking good
price too
This site has many great items for camping
Look around on site I think you may find
something you like
I too do not cook inside. I have an elec. skillet & oven as well as a couple hot pots. We carry a small charcoal grill. I don't like using park grills because you never know what was thrown or burnt in them. We bought a couple of aluminium tables. One has a back & hooks on it to hold paper towels, large utensils, dish rags, etc... Would love to find a solar oven but the one I have works well & it has a rotisseri. Happy camping.
