Hi again, I just realized there's a message board here for posting topics (after I sent everyone a message!) . . . so I will post it again here. We just bought our first travel trailer and will need to move it to the storage lot this week. A couple of friends warned us against mice infestations as their campers were destroyed over the winter by mice.  We'd love some advice of methods that you know really work to keep the mice out. I know not to keep food in the trailer, and I really don't want to use mouse traps because we won't be able to visit the trailer frequently enough to dispose of them. Someone said scattering dryer sheets around would do the trick, but I'd like to hear what people think about that idea and if anyone has tried it.  Any advice is appreciate, thanks!   Veronica

I went under my trailor and stuffed steel wool in every crack I could see then I put spray foam on top. Inside place dryer sheets everywhere or moth balls but they stink also I put dicon mouse boxes and I put everything in plastic containers, ie. linens, pillows etc. XXL Large ziplocs work well. This has worked well for me. I had mice problems 3 years ago!

Veronica, on our first pop-up we had to replace the wiffle tree because chipmunks had taken seeds in there and messed up the screwdrive.  We put dryer sheets in there after replacing it and never had problems after that.  Our pop-up is stored in our back yard, not in a covered building.  We have not had any problem with the mice, chippies or any other rodent since using the sheets.  We now put them all though the camper when we store.

We just bought a trailer also and will be looking for indoor storage.  We will be using the dryer sheets in there when we do.

I'm open for any other ideas that might work also...Thanks

I've heard you need to close all potential entrances to the trailer.  On a forum I'm a member of someone posted, "I would start by plugging all entrances that a mouse might gain access. Crawl under the trailer and fill any holes where pipes or wires enter. I used spray foam then covered with an exterior grade caulking."
a sure fire way is Moth balls around the wheels and levelers,  anything that is touch the ground. only if this being store inside an enclosed unit.
Thanks everyone for the feedback. I don't know if we'll have a chance to do the spray foam thing right away but for sure the dryer sheets. It's stored outside so we can't do the mothballs.  I like the idea of trash bags and big ziplocs for any upholstery and pillows.
