Camping with dogs
For those of you who travel with furry companions, North Carolina has a campground especially for campers with dogs - Four Paws Kingdom Campground. check out their website. The owners are wonderful people and the campground is immaculate. They have multiple fenced areas, including a lake and a creek, for the dogs to run freely. There are activities for both pets and their owners. They have both back in and pull through sites so they can accommodate larger rigs. They also offer wonderful amenities for rallies. Once you camp at Four Paws, you'll be planning a return trip.

We have three Shelties. There isn't much of a problem taking them, because we camp in national forest campgrounds in SW Montana. The main trouble is barking.

We camp all over with our Yorkie and have met so many dogs along our journeys. In general, I find that furry companions love the camping world. Four Paws is just a unique place in that it truly caters to dogs - a long drive, though, from Montana. We are hoping to make a trip to Montana next year - try to plan trips that keep us on the road for about 5-6 weeks. We're in NC.

Tom and Pat, thanks for the info on camping with our pets. Always looking for pet friendly camp grounds. Our Germany Sheperd Dog likes to camp with us and next year we are planning a cross country trip with her and our pop-up.

Myra, Missouri Campgrounds are all pet friendly, just have to be on a leash. We have two Poms that go everywhere with us. Sounds like your going to have a good trip.

Our Poms bark also, try this.......take an empty coke can and add a few penny's and shack it at them when they bark. It makes our Poms stop barking, now all we have to do is show them the can.

We use a clicker for our Yorkie (got it at PetsMart). We don't have click it any longer - like the pennies in a can..you just show him the clicker and all is quiet.
