Sandra i still think you need to organize a campout somewhere so maybe a bunch of us can meet this year.

Well, I went on the road with my three kids and two dogs for 25 days and 4600 miles! We hit Nebraska, Iowa, Illinios, Pennsylvania, New York, Ottawa, Canada, Michigan, and Indiana. We had a specktacular time. We stayed a quite a few KOA's we also stayed at Black Hawk  lake, Iowa it was a great place we were 100 feet from the water, awesome place. Lake Placid New York KOA is another really nice place for kids and family. Although very busy but it was 4th of July weekend. The heat wasn't bad till we traveled back thourgh Iowa and Nebraska and then the humidity just about killed us! UGGh. But will do probably one more camping trip in the fall. The kids go back to school next wek so it's hard to get out after that.

We've been fortuante enough to be able to avoid the heat this camping season.  We just got back from Yosemite and it was a perfect 75 degrees the whole time!  Our next trip will be to the beach.  Isn't it said that great minds think alike?  ;)

Camping in the heat... not my preference but somehow it doesn't deter me from going - I just go high in the mountains or by the ocean.  How's everyone holding up in the heat?

I just spent 4 days in the Jackson Hole area, but spent a couple of days in Driggs Idaho fishing the Teton, Fork and South Snake river and it was great, got to see some beautiful waterfalls and great secenery. I would reccomend that area anytime and can put you on to a great fishing guide service with a great lodge.

@JamesRonan.....Hi....yeah our 13ft Yellow Stone is just good enough for Us(2)though it will sleep eight. I want to get a new one, like an RV or an 5th Wheel (30ft), but right now I don't like the hefty price to operate it and the price tag. Actually its just too much, with unpredictable gas prices. For right now the 13ft will do. We have friends to ride and pitch in on, if we want to ride in an RV. We would like to enjoy the trip rather than worry about things. When my time comes, it might happen. Keeping it simple and minimal is my goal, so that we may enjoy ourselves. Van campers are beautiful, but little to no space in my opinion. Lol, not like we have a lot of room in the 13foot. Lol.

Vanessa, we use a 17 foot Casita and
find fully adequate. Doesn't have lots (any?) bells and whistles, but it is
warm (or cool) and cozy and very easy to pull! Our "egg" has turned
out to be one of our better choices for camping in the lower forty-eight. Let's
us set up camp, close shop and drive around and not worry about getting back
after dark and having to set up again like we had to do in the Sportsmobile Van
camper.

Beautiful photo Steve!  Vanessa, I wish I could help, I'm out on the west coast and have very little experience in your area.

Thermarest Tech Blanket, Good for Hammock Camping???

The Tech Blanket from Thermarest is a great piece of gear when it comes to hammock camping. The system was meant for the ground but it works great in a hammo...
