Hello All, Anything going on for 2012 in Florida or Southern Georgia. Looking for some camping fun.. with or without the kids. Happy New Year!!

Sherry: YES.. we live in Florida and camp at the State Parks.  I don't know of any specific trips that are planned by this group but am interested. My partner and I purchased a camping passport book with all the state parks in Florida.. so we pick a new place each time and then get our book stamped. Cheesy.. but fun! Let me know if anything gets planned.. or maybe we can just meet up. Do you mind kids? we have them, but sometimes camp without them...

This is exactly what my partner and I have been looking for. We love camping, fishing and the outdoors. We also have kids so we are looking for include our kids with some of our outings as well. We mainly camp in Florida at the moment, but short out of state camping trips are not out of the question. I look forward to sharing here.  THANKS

Hi Anne,

My g/f is with this chapter.  We camped with Camping Women at El Capitan in SB and we had so much fun!  We found a nice spot to put our tent up and we met so many nice women there.  I was the "Fire Starter" for our group because I started both fires with flint and no matches!  We are not sure if we will be going camping this year with CampingWomen since we already are making plans to check out other campsites.

I hope to see you at one of these events!  Good luck with starting an active chapter in SD.

HI Gina!

You should check out www.CampingWomen.org ! We have a chapter called LA/ Beach Cities that covers your area.  I'm a member at large of this group and get their newsletter.  We have a whole schedule of trips and would love to have you join.  All very democratic, and everyone who participates has an input and responsibility for trips. Very Lesbian friendly organization, founded by one of us.

I grew up in the Conejo Valley and used to love Sycamore Canyon.  My second so called "backpack trip" as a Girl Scout was down that canyon to the Leo Cabrillo campground and back to Newberry Park the next day.  Obviously the hike back was the most difficult!  We did it in summer and had a rattlesnake encounter and overwelming heat. I loved the shade of the sycamores, and when we stopped we all put our feet in the creek.

I'm in San Diego County, where I would like to start an active chapter.

I go to all the Camping Women Invitationals, which are larger scale campouts, with all the Chapters and members at large invited.

Hope to meet you at a Camping Women trip!

Annie

I'm so looking forward to camping this year.  Looking for a group who loves to camp/hike in Santa Barbara/Ventura Counties.  I actually did a hike in Sycamore Canynon last month and we actually had fun hiking in the cold (fog was setting in before we started our hike). But we managed to get back down after the sun had already set.  Thank God for headlamps!  I've never hiked in the dark and it was different.  Your senses are hightened.

Is looking for others in the Houston area that likes to go camping. Have a vintage Airstream here and enjoy camping.

Just went to Kern River, CA 7/9 and it was freaken fantastic!! Weather was real hot during the day and the water was refreshing. Night time was still warm so no need for sweaters, covers or sleeping bags. Can't wait for the next trip. Where is everyone going on their next trip?

Well, it's camping season in Washington State. A lot has changed for me this winter. My girlfriend of 8 years traded me in on a Blonde - yuck and I've moved into a tiny apartment to regroup and start over. Oh well, perhaps it is a blessing in disguise. So, it's been a few months since the BS and I am ready to get out and camp. I'm getting a new 9 month old French Bulldog to love and be loved. His name is Bull and I can't wait. Since my last Frenchie passed suddenly, there has been quite a void in my life. I kept the Camping Bible in the split so I'm pouring over it to find a place to go with my new big boy. Hope all is well in LGBT camping world, keep me posted on new and exciting things in all y'all's lifes. Peace and Love and Joy, never forget to joy :)
