This is where you can post questions or comments about things to do with tents (equipment reviews, how to set up, what to buy, you name it).

I have been enjoying a lesser know brand (Paha Que) 2 person Black Mountain tent for over 10 years now. I usually camp about 30 nights per year and that particular tent has held up well in snow storms (Grande Cyn) and high winds in the (Death Valley) desert.

I still have an old, purple, Coleman 10x10 with broken zippers I keep around for a loaner, but my professional experience is a cheapie Coleman/Wenzel is not gonna last for decades like a good quality tent will. I even did an experiment once: leaving a Coleman tent standing in the forest and would hike to check out it's condition every month. Needless to say after 6 months straight, it was toast. Ripped, broken, holes in it. Luckily that TESTER tent was another 10x10 from 1988.

This summer I have been scouring the web for good small tents (under $200) that are also high quality. I have come up with some excellent brands, categories and products listed. Check out my new TENT PAGES on Total Escape and gemme some feedback on what I am missing. 11 categories listed on the left side menu will direct you deeper into individual pages -
