Thank you!  I live in a heavily "light polluted" area, San Francisco Bay Area.  I'll try to find it here, but if not I'll be sure to look the next time I go camping:-)  I will definitley let you know when I find it.  Thanks again!

I enjoyed the Astro Naviagation page!  It most definitley made me want to learn more.  I've never been very good at identifying constellations, much less navigate with them.  I used to drive my brothers crazy.  They would try to show me and I would jump around saying, "Where, where...I don't see it."  So I gave up at a young age or maybe it's more accurate to say they did:-)

Thanks Laurene and thanks for following my website, I'm trying to improve it all the time, please feel free to qrite in the guest book, for you I'll work on an 'astro-navigation page' asap I'm sure I can transefer a good pic I have to show how to identify the north star.  If members want the info I'll post the URL when its done?

In my humble opinion, I think that anything that demonstrates your expertise should be included in your site.  (I always look at a persons experience and or credentials when looking for an instructor in anything.)  Wow!  I can't believe how much you've updated the site since the last time I looked at it a few days ago!  Nice!  Thanks for the quick lesson!  I'll have to experiment!

sorry for the delay in answering (time zone difference got me and I slept) yeah, I was really talking about putting it on the website more, thanks for your reply. 'Triangulation' as such is used with a compass to establish your position. a 'quicky' for using the stars if you're traveling at night is to pick a star that is on your direction of travel - then pick an object on the ground directly below it (don't keep looking up or you'll trip and fall) - then put your compass away and walk towards it for 20 minutes - unless its the north star it will have moved then, so after 20 minutes do the same again but with another star and so on.

Coming in a little late, but, I think you were asking if you should add astro-navigation to the website, right?  If that is correct then I would say yes.  One of my husband's friends was talking about getting lost while backpacking/hunting.  I think any knowledge he could gain to make sure that didn't happen again he would be interested in obtaining.  I think that would be true of others who are truly into communing with the outdoors.  (If I remember correctly they used triangulation to get back to the site.)
