Sorry there has not been more posting, been very busy here in NM not to mention everything has been closed, (thank goodness) due to the extreme drought and fires all over the state.  We got up to our favorite camping spot is in the Jemez Mountains Memorial weekend, a week later the largest fire in NM history started burning, near Los Alamos. The rains have begun and we are all thankful for that! Another reason I have not been on here is we auditioned for a TV series called Americas Favorite Trail Horse, on HRTV. Zeema and I were selected out of 1,000 and went to TX for a week of filming, now the show is about to air. It will begin Sept. 13th, and we will be on the second episode, Sept. 20th @ 7:00 PM.  Would love to have you all watch and VOTE FOR ZEEMA. I will post some pics from the filming for you all to see. If you do not get HRTV, you can view it on www.hrtv.com or www.actha.us .  Hope to be camping soon both Zeema and I, and hope you all are too!

I was reading an article in an RV magazine about camping and horses and they talked about several websites that listed RV parks, campsites and stables with horse-friendly accommodations...

Roaming times:  http://www.roamingtimes.com/Searchcamps/horses1.asp

Horse and travel:  http://www.horseandtravel.com/states/camping_campsites.html

Horse Motels International:  http://www.horsemotel.com/

Just thought I'd share.

Hello Fellow Equestrians. Time is here for getting back in the Saddle!!
There is a new and upcoming group called ACTHA (American Competitive Trail Horse Assoc.) If you enjoy seeing parts of the country by horseback, you will want to check out this site www.actha.us/ It is VERY casual competition while riding trails you might never have been able to see before. PLUS....1/2 the porceeds from every ride goes to a charity (mostly horse related). It's a Win Win situation. Rides are held all over the U.S. and more are being added every week. Makes for a good excuss to get out there and camp with your equine buddis too.
Hope everyone has a summer full of the Beautiful Outdoors!

Again.....spot on Kym. His mother was imported from Hungery and his Sire is out of the Pluto line from Austria. I see you have a Percheron, VERY COOL. We also have a Shire cross (PMU Baby). We will be camping with the boys the end of the month at a Search and Rescue training, can't wait!
Hope your camping trip is so great you want to go again and again and again!!! PLEASE, take and post some pictures.
One more thing, have you heard of ACTHA (American Competitive Trail Horse Assoc.)? It is VERY CASUAL competition, more about the trail ride and socializing. They have many rides in Ca. (I wish I could go to). Check out their site www.actha.us/ It's a great way to see some country and a good excuss to go camping with your horses!

Thanks for the tips Theresa :)
Now there is a cross you don't see every day, well, at least not in America, lol. He sure is pretty.

Hi Kym, thanks, Good call, he is 1/2 Lipizzaner and 1/2 Hungarian Warmblood. I don't know of any horse camping sites. No matter how warm it is rember to bring a blanket or rain sheet just in case, I always bring hoof boots in case we loose a shoe, always have med supplies (both horse and human) including butte and banamine, extra halter, leads and even an extra bridle (it would be a shame to get somewhere and need theses simple things, I try to feed off the ground (more natural) but bring hay bags if needed, high tie or pens, maure rake (we always leave a site clean so we are always welcome back), bring some water from home (you never know) and enough food for a couple extra days past your expected agenda. Hope you have a Fabulous Time!! Let me know if I can answer any ? .

Thanks Theresa. My computer crashed and I haven't been on here in quite a while, it's taken me a while to find all my sites since getting a new computer. I find them as I get email notices from them, lol.
We are planning our first overnight with horses next month (as long a the weather permits it). I was wondering if there is some website or source for a checklist of sorts for camping with horses. Being our first time, I am trying to think of everything we need to bring and hope I'm not forgetting something important.
>Off topic, Theresa, I just think your horse is quite stunning. Is he an Iberian breed?

So Glad you found the pellets you need. You are correct, Sacate only has the 5050 blend now. They no longer have the 100% grass, I did not know they stopped it, I am feeding the 5050 now for 5 yrs. Happy Camping !

Thermarest Tech Blanket, Good for Hammock Camping???

The Tech Blanket from Thermarest is a great piece of gear when it comes to hammock camping. The system was meant for the ground but it works great in a hammo...
