Hi all,
I'm trying to plan a trip with my friends (don't know how many yet) for 3 nights. I'm trying to figure out what a good rule of thumb is for budget per a meal (with out the alcohol).  We usually pool our resources and share meals but I would like to be able to give them an estimate on the cost of this trip.
Thanks in advance

We usually do a pot luck for the dinners.Everyone brings something.Usually someone will do the main dish and let everyone know what its going to be so they can bring something that will go with it.Breakfast we've done breakfast burritos.Everyone makes one of the things that will go into the burritos. You can split the cost of the camp site and gas,but its kind of hard to split up the cost of the food unless everyone gives one person so much money each and that person plans the meals and does the shopping. We've done that with large groups.
That's kind of what we're trying to do. The trip isn't for several months yet and I don't know how many are going yet. Since I and the other person organizing this can't front all the money ourselves and divide up later, we would like to be able to have a rough estimate to give others in the group so they can decide whether they have it in their budget to come or not. Each time we've all brought our own food we end up with so much left over it goes to waste in addition to being more expensive for everyone, especially when you're buying for one person. I was just wondering if there was a general figure or range of figures that I can use to estimate the cost of this trip.
Thanks

A three day camping trip can typically have the food purchased for about 10.00 to 15.00.  Depending of course upon what you plan to be eating.  Steak cost more, ramein noodles cost less.
