The snow is almost gone and the ice is coming off the lakes here in west central part of MN. Think I'm going to take the canoe out this weekend on the Chippawa river thats not too far from our house. With all the run off of snow the river is nice and high (so I won't hit deadfalls) and has a decent current! Anyone else getting itchy for canoeing and camping?

My wife and I own two kayaks and two canoes. Work and other commitments kept us out of the water last year but with this crappy economy I'm pretty sure we'll have plenty of time to go this year. Even have new racks for the car so now we don't have any excuses.

I own two kayaks, they are Ocean Kayak brand sit on top style and very stable. I live in Oregon where there are many rivers and lakes to enjoy. I live right by the confluences of two rivers that offer several skill levels so you dont get too board. One river even has a big wide waterfall that is fun to paddle up to and get the feeling of mist and some fast moving water. I like to go out early in the morning before a lot of other boats get out so there are little to no wakes and its more peacefull.

Anyone know of a good canoe for general family use, mostly on flat water. Anyone have any suggestions for someone with a limited budget? Brands, makes, designs, etc.?

We have a cabin cruiser that we can sleep in. Kind of tight now that the kids are bigger so now it's more of a father/son getaway. Son likes to fish, daughter swims, husband and I chillax.

We both have 1-man pontoon boats so we can float rivers and streams to fish. Our dilemma is to figure out how we can bring our 8 mo old heeler with us. She already has her own life preserver. Now we just need to rig something up for her. Any ideas?

It is wonderful! We are also allowed our pets on these islands. We have been boating in the evening down the Intracoastal and it is lovely seeing all the campfires lighting the way.
We lived in Las Vegas for a few years and did many camping excursions. One of my favorites was Yosemite National Park. I am so thankful for having had many wonderful camping experiences all over this country. Another favorite is the many beautiful campgrounds in Vermont. I could never understand why some people dare not to camp. They can only dream to imagine what they are missing!
