I have really been wanting to go to Daisy SP . We had a trip planned last year when they had the deadly floods in that area and didn't get to make the trip.. Hopefully we get to make it this summer.. Hot Springs Lake Ouachita ( Little Fir) we have camped alot and Heber Springs Greers Ferry Lake is a beautiful place beautiful clear water . Petit Jean State Park is home to me as I was raised there. Nebo & Mt Magazine are two other nice parks in AR.. We really do have a beautiful State and not to leave out the Buffalo River...
Wanda,
That is great that you liked Daisy (lake?) SP! Was it crowded? Did you go to any of the other parks? I really loved it too! Wish it was a bit closer, but would love to go there again this summer as well! I can't wait to see your pictures!:)
I just got back from Arkansas State Park Daisy and we had the best Spring Break with children. I was not disappointed at all. I fell in love with the pictures and was able to see and ejoy myself at this park. Two years ago I stayed at the KOA in Hot Spring which was good for the time and for not knowing, but I would rather stay at any of AR state parks. Now I am planning to visit again for the summer. I heard there is rafting we can do for adults and still have places to go for the kids. I will be posting pictures soon.
We're going to Hot Springs this Wednesday (3-10-10) and leaving on Sunday. We are staying at the KOA. Wasn't sure where to go, so we're going exploring for the next time. Forecast is for some rain and cooling temps, that will make time for sight seeing.

Kim , sorry I didn't see your message on camping in AR.. I have lived here all my life. We do have a beautiful state for camping and hiking.. While Mt Magazine and Mt Nebo are awesome parks my favorite by far is Petit Jean in which you were not far from.. The Ozarks around Eureka Springs is to die for... Hopefully you will find your way back to enjoy or state again..

Hi Lon,
While I don't live in Arkansas, we did make a trip up there in August. We went to the western part of the state and checked out Craters of Diamonds SP, Daisy SP, Mt. Nebo and Mt. Magazine SP and they all were nice. We also went to Hot Springs National Park (which is also the town of Hot Springs, AR.) It was neat, touristy but a nice day trip. That whole area was great and really wanted to head even farther north to Eureka Springs, but had sick kids so that limited it. Mt. Nebo has the most AMAZING campsites I have ever stayed at. The one we had sat on top of the mountain and the view was bam, right there. Toooo cool. Craters of Diamonds CG was closed so not sure what it is like, but boy would it be convenient if you mining. Mt. Magazine is the highest point in Arkansas, so that was neat for the kids to walk it. I was thoroughly impressed with the State parks there. Have fun!

Love Arkansas, we live in Poplar Bluff, Missouri(southeast) and plan on exploring your great state. Any suggestions?
I am from Texas, but I have been looking at the Arkansas State Park web page and I fell in love with the picures and parks there. I am planning a trip to one of the parks, like Daisy. From what I see most of the sites are well kept, and a good thing (per the site) is that you can not only make reservations on line, but can also call and ask for a especific site!!!! I usually travel with other family members and we all have trailers, so it is good to know I can make a special reservation for sites for my family be together. If you have not yet see the site, here is the link: http://www.arkansasstateparks.com/park-finder/
ahhh and they have cabins too!! I cannot wait to go.!! I hpe this information would help.
Just join , been wanting to go camping in ark but have not heard to much about it . Hopefully this site will help me.

Going backpacking with 6 coworkers on the Eagle Rock Loop at the end of the month. Does anybody have any experience with this trail that they could share with our group?
The Tech Blanket from Thermarest is a great piece of gear when it comes to hammock camping. The system was meant for the ground but it works great in a hammo...
