Can anyone give us ideas on where to hear the elk bulging in Arizona?
We tried the area near Munds Park last weekend (9/25-27). Did not hear more than 5 calls all weekend. It may have been to warm or the elevation to low. We're not sure.
Anyone know where they are active this week?

I went to Canyon Creek up on the rim a few weeks ago and we heard them all night long, non stop.
just not too much noice goin on right now.. good elevation, just too warm.. they r rutting.. try more towards Mormon Lake area
I second Brent's post, I always see them around Mormon Lake or if you just take Lake Mary Road South out of Flagstaff and go anywhere north of Camp Verde you are sure to run into them
We tried the area near Happy Jack, on FR 147. Not a peep out of them. We're just having a bad year.
It is so dry in that area, Game and Fish Dept thought maybe that was the reason. Some say it's still early.
At least I'm letting people know where not to find them.
We have tried Munds Park, Happy Jack and last weekend Willows Spring Lake area. No luck anywhere. Add insult to injury, my friend was in Forest Lakes eight miles away and was told the elk were noisy over there.
Just not our year to enjoy the elk.
Yeah Lake Mary is a great place to look, or listen for that matter.
