Melissa there is a place called Johnson's beach close to Flora-Bama bar...

it says no overnight camping but I am told it happens.

Planning a fall trip to Blackwater River State Park/Forest.
Been there many times. Nice campsites overlook the River.

I sure will Chris, I'm heading up that way soon with the kids. My Dad lives on the Chattahoochie ( I hope I spelled that close enough) but that seems to be "big water" and I don't know of any place to camp there. I'll keep you posted.

I wish I could help you but I'm not familiar with kayak-able streams along the Pinhoti, the area I visit the most. There are several scattered lakes along the way but I don't think that is what you are after.

The Cahaba (near Birmingham) is a local favorite and of course the Sipsey River north of B'ham is very good. More central AL than eastern though.

I'd be interested to know if you find anything so post any goodies you do come across over that way.
